Activists and promoters seeking better taxi services for Goa have been left disappointed after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who had promised to look into the long-pending taxi issue has failed to live up to his promise.

It is now the second week of July. \r“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told us that decision on taxi revolution will be taken mid-June and we have been patiently waiting for his response. So far there is no word from him and the MLAs too are afraid to talk about the issue. There is also no plan or vision on transportation in the common minimum programme announced in June 2017,” Mahesh Sardesai who first launched the online petition said. \r“I will be calling a meeting to decide the issue in June. I also have the responsibility to ensure law and order in the State,” Parrikar had said when asked to comment on the demand to introduce taxi cab aggregators Ola and Uber or any other in Goa. \r“I believe that the consumer needs to have a decent choice. He cannot have all the choice, but at least a decent choice,” Parrikar had said on May 23. \rHowever, now in July, the men behind the online petition to ensure better taxi services for locals in Goa are left disappointed and fuming. \rThe petition has garnered nearly 10,000 signatures online and had drawn public attention to the issue with the State government forced to react to the demand. \rWhile Parrikar had promised a meeting in June, Chairman of the Goa Tourism
