The central government has granted its sanction to a ₹99 crore spiritual tourism circuit with the order expected to be issued before the end of the month, Chairman of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation Nilesh Cabral has said.

The religious circuit which begins at Old Goa and includes a route that winds through the talukas of Bicholim Ponda and Salcete will see similar development.   
“We had applied for this circuit along with the coastal circuit last year and after scrutiny of the proposals and an initial approval the final sanction will come by the end of the month,” Cabral said.   
He said that the money will be spent on developing the locations along the circuit like temples churches and the like.   
The coastal circuit, the river cruise circuit and another spiritual circuit have been submitted to the central government for approval.   
The central government is offering Goa up to `500 crore for developing tourist circuits under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.A tourist circuit is defined as “a route on which at least three major tourist destinations are located such that none of these are in the same town, village or city. At the same time they are not separated by a long distance.”
