The season’s first charter will land in Goa on October 2 and despite the last two tourist season’s recording a decline in charter tourist arrivals, the industry is expecting a 20-25% growth is charter arrivals this time.

President of Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) Savio Messias said they have received intimation that the first charter will arrive from Dubai on October 2.

Managing director, Cicerone Air Transport Services Francisco Xavier Mirandaconfirmed the news. Miranda said the new season is expected to be comparatively good and 20-25% of the arrivals are expected from Russian destinations.

The last two seasons saw a significant drop in charter tourists particularly fromRussia consequent to the economic crises there. Though the situation has not improved in Russia, tour operators here anticipate a good season in terms of charter flow as bookings so far have been reasonably good.
Some charter operators are also expecting a rise in charter tourists from UK, the traditional charter market of Goa.
Arrivals from UK started dropping five-six years ago after the Russian market picked up. There was a slight increase in arrivals from UK last season. The stakeholder are upbeat this season too, and expect further growth in UK numbers.
