Kanda’s casino to enter Mandovi in peak monsoon

To what extent will the casino owners go to get their casino up and running in the Mandovi river? and why is the High Court allowing such arm twisting to go on? is it all because the owner is Kanda.

The Public are not fools to believe that there are no external forces at play which make all these decisions possible

Residents of Nerul peeved as garbage washes ashore

Moonsoon is the time when the sea decides to cough up all waste and garbage that is dumped in it throughout the year.

This is a classic example of the same. Its high time we stop polluting out rivers and oceans

Casinos get 3 more months in Mandovi

The government has no will to displace the casinos, Its the casinos that are their coffer masters. If they had any serious will to eliminate them then they would not be moored in the river but out in the sea where they ought to belong.

Failing to identity an alternate site to relocate offshore casinos, the state government has extended permission to the vessels to continue operations from the Mandovi river by three months.

A notification to the effect states that offshore casinos can continue to remain in the Mandovi river till September 30, 2017, instead of June 30, 2017.

The five offshore casino licencees — Delta Corp Ltd, Goa Coastal Resorts and Recreation Pvt Ltd, Highstreet Cruises and Entertainment, Golden Peace Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Delta Pleasure Cruise Company— have now more time to move out their vessels…

Soon, a sixth offshore casino, belonging to Golden Globe Hotels Private Ltd (GGHPL), is likely to enter the Mandovi river.
Earlier, the cabinet had resolved not to renew offshore casino licences expiring after March 31, 2014, for operations in the current location, but in a cabinet meeting in March 2014, licences of offshore casinos expiring on or before March 31, 2014, were renewed by two years to allow them time to make alternate arrangements to move out of the Mandovi river.

Subsequently, the government started looking for alternate sites and locations were even identified in the Aguada bay, and Zuari, Chapora and Sal rivers. But, the proposal to shift the vessels never saw light of day during the last two years. In fact, the proposal was shot down on grounds on non-viability.

After the BJP-led government took charge in March, chief minister Manohar Parrikar had said that his government is committed to moving casinos out of the Mandovi river, but only after an alternate site was identified. BJP coalition partners had also demanded that offshore casinos be moved out of the Mandovi river.

In its recently announced common minimum programme, the state government has stated that floating casinos will be shifted from their current location.

Mopa airport will fuel Goa’s tourism & economy: Amit Shah

All empty talk ….When all indicators show that Goa’s tourism is on the decline, Amit shah thinks that Mopa Airport will make the tourism grow!!!
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/mopa-airport-will-fuel-goas-tourism-economy-amit-shah/articleshow/59415311.cms
BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday said that the under-construction Mopa airport will help Goa’s tourism, and growth implication, the state’s economy, grow by two to three times.

Stating that Goa was heading towards becoming a model state in terms of development, Shah said that the Narendra Modi government at the centre has strengthened the state’s infrastructural development projects like roads, bridges, fishing jetties etc, by flushing it with necessary funds.

Shah made these statements while addressing the audience after inaugurating the party’s South Goa district office at Margao.

Shah said that the BJP has decided to have its offices in all districts by 2018 with a view to increasing the party’s outreach activities.

“The growth of the party translates into good governance of the nation. For, when BJP comes to power in any state, it is not just a change in power that happens, but it’s the entire system that gets changed. And Goa is an excellent example of such parivartan,” Shah said.

Obviously aware of the disenchantment that has gripped BJP workers following circumstances that led to the formation of a coalition government, Shah laced his speech with a pep talk to the party cadre.

“BJP is one party where every worker associated with it just like his family. This differentiates it from other political parties. In the BJP’s journey since its Jana Sangh days until now, the ordinary karyakarta has been its focal point. In all other parties, the focus is on their leaders. The BJP, however, owes its existence to even the smallest worker of a smallest booth,” Shah said.

Earlier, chief minister Manohar Parrikar, speaking on the occasion, said that his government has harboured the dream of making Goa a model state, and that with the opening of the new office, the work towards fulfilling the dream has begun in right earnest.

South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar also spoke on the occasion.

The growing intolerance to the ‘outsider’ is constantly on the rise. Off late we see this manifesting on the tourists who visit our state.
Have we become such a intolerant state that even those who visit is and bring revenue to the tourism industry are being shunned out? It is this Indian tourist that spends maximum and all that goes into the local economy

Three rescued off Calangute beach

Monsoons attract a lot of Indian tourists. The Sea or water is one of the main attractions for them. The fury of the sea is at its maximum during the monsoons. The Government needs to actively promote waterfalls during the Monsoons . These can also be manned by life guards to insure safety of the tourists.
