Goa tourism is set to launch its amphibious bus service as it has now got all the required permissions, including the crucial permission from the transport department.
Addressing mediapersons, Goa tourism development corporation, chairperson, Nilesh Cabral, along with tourism minister Dilip Parulekar, on Friday, said they have got a nod from the transport department to start the service.
The indigenously built amphibious buses had been ready to use for over six months, but the Goa tourism could not start the service without the necessary permission from the transport department, said Cabral.

To a question, Cabral said the date for the launch of the service will be finalized shortly. “A local operator has been selected to manage the service. Subsequently, more buses will pumped into service,” Cabral said.
The 32-seater amphibious bus will show tourists the hinterlands of Goa, although though routes are yet to be confirmed.
The vehicles are built by Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd (ACGL) in collaboration with a foreign company.
Cabral said this initiative is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Make in India’.
