The Cavelossim gram sabha on Sunday firmly opposed the nationalisation of rivers and the proposed mini-harbour/satellite port at Betul.
The gram sabha members refused to approve the budget stating that proper allocation must be made as per the village development plan. The former sarpanch and current panchayat member Edwin Barretto informed TOI that “it was decided to open the beach access to the Mobor-Cavelossim beach. Sarpanch Viola Costa informed the gram sabha that the village panchayat had obtained all requisite permissions from the property owners that has been forwarded to the PWD for the purpose of road construction, a year ago. The matter ought to be expedited. A letter is forwarded to South Goa collector Swapnil Naik, requesting the land and survey department to demarcate it”.
