Rent-a-car is about introducing fleets, its not about local individuals being self employed in anyway. Do the ministers responsible for this decision know what rent-a car business means?

On 10th July 2016, the CRT team on child rights and child protection met with 41 youth from St.John the Baptist Parish to discuss and talk about Exploitation of Children in Tourism
A new participatory methodology was used. The youth were divided into 3 sub groups and each group was given different areas to discuss and dwell upon: Group 1 watched a video clip and discussed various issues seen in the clip that are faced by youth and children as a result of tourism. Group 2 discussed specific child related laws that prevailed. Group 3 was given 4 situations of children on the beach and asked to discuss which where acceptable and which were not according to them.
Group one identified most of the areas depicted in the clip. They also had good examples that they had experienced and shared that with the rest of the group.
Group 2 spoke about rights of children at large. The rights identified by them were mostly general human rights. The most significant right they mentioned was the Right to Education. They were not aware of Goa Children’s Act and Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences
Group 3 had some mixed feelings about the 1st incident . However they were very clear about the other three being absolutely unacceptable.
Following the group discussion and reporting as an in-depth session on Goa Children’s Act and Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences was conducted.
Some youth expressed their apprehension with the laws being just on paper and not in practice. The youth were encouraged to not give up, rather to mobilize like minded youth and put social pressure on the government to get these laws put into practice.
This was followed by a quiz for the youth with covered various questions that were covered in the presentations and group discussions.
The session ended with the distribution of sticker and other materials on zero tolerance to child abuse.
Prostitution is on the rise in the state, Goa is being seen more and more as a sex destination . Our Government takes offence when Goa is projected in that light be it in a movie or statement made by politicians. The government needs to act rather then ignore !
Over the last five years, Goa police rescued around 500 girls in the state, trafficked from across the country, including some foreign nationals. Going by statistics, Goa police rescued the maximum number of trafficked victims from Maharashtra and West Bengal.
During 2010 to 2013, around 300 girls were rescued in the state. In 2014, 53 girls were rescued, in 2015, the number reached 84 and in 2016, till date, the count has touched 49.
Police have rescued girls from massage parlours, hotels, staying at rented house, etc.
Goa-based NGO Arz, director Arun Pandey told TOI that there is a different modus operand used by pimps to push girls into commercial sexual exploitation. He said that the vulnerable girls from Delhi and Mumbai are lured to Goa in the name of working in the hospitatility industry, casinos, etc. and once they arrive in Goa, they are exploited.
He added that Darjeeling and northeast girls are brought to Goa to work in massage parlours and they are pushed into prostitution. “There are a lot of advertisements in the northeast to recruit girls to work in massage parlour for salaries of 25,000 to 30,000,” Pandey said.
In the cases of girls from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, etc. it has been found that as soon as these girls reach Delhi their passports are taken away by the perpetrators on the pretext that they will return it after the paper work for “a good job”.
“After the passport is taken, the traffickers send them to Goa and force them into commercial sexual activities by threatening them that they will inform the police that they do not have a passport and are staying illegally in the country. The traffickers do not even renew the visa once it expires. The girls, out of fear of being arrested, do not approach authorities for help,” Pandey said.
On the direction of director general of police (DGP) Muktesh Chander, Goa police have begun to crack down on prostitution activities and have arrested various people in the state.
Pimps have also resorted to social media and online sites to boost their businesses. High profile sex rackets operating in the state supply actors, models, TV stars, upcoming models to starred hotels across the state. Preliminary inquiries, in the recent arrest of a pimp, had revealed that a model or actor charges between 5 lakh to 20 lakh per customer, who come from a wealthy background or even the corporate world.
Cabral’s arrogance shown yet again contrary to the local peoples wishes

projects/articleshow/53143761.cmsurism Development Corporation (GTDC), flagged off many new tourism-related services last season, but they could not take off due to opposition by locals, while a few got stuck for want of relevant permissions.
The GTDC intends to kickstart them afresh when the tourist season takes off in October.
Hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides and an amphibian bus service were launched during the last tourism season and plans were afoot to start a seaplane service before the conclusion of the tourist season. GTDC could not proceed further due to delayed permissions.
The new services were launched to target high-end tourists. GTDC will have to wait for the next season to start them and check the response. Nilesh Cabral, GTDC chairman, who pushed hard for new tourist services, was dismayed over the delay in the launch of a sea plane service, said they would now look at the new season to kickstart them.
A tour operator, who did not want to be named, said it would have been better if those services – hot air balloon or helicopter services were located in North Goa for better visibility, as it has a larger inflow of tourists.
The first choice of GTDC for launching – whether hot air balloon rides or helicopter service – has been North Goa, but it was compelled to move its new services toSouth Goa following opposition by the locals.
A helicopter service was launched from Aguada, putting to use a ready government-owned helipad. But, the plan was shelved on the third day of the operation, due to stiff opposition by some locals, who were led by former Calangute MLA Agnelo Fernandes. Calangute MLA Michael Lobo had extended his support to the agitators. A shack owner from Calangute said it was foolish to oppose new services. “We lost potential business. What’s the logic in those protests?”
A tourism official said they are apprehensive to start anything new now because of the protests by locals. “You never know who will start protesting,” he said. Nonetheless, he said, whatever services had been announced last season, will continue after a reality check.
Have the CoP considered the impact of water sports in inland waters on the fragile and sensitive ecosystem ? has any study been done to check carrying capacities of the villages identified? has the required infrastructure been put in place and most important of all, have the villagers been consulted ?
