The board member said the convention centre for Margao has been approved keeping with the demand by the South Goa hoteliers. A year ago, hoteliers from South Goa had submitted a representation to this effect to the government.
It was also decided to float a fresh tender to select an operator to run the multi-level car park facility which has been ready since the last six months.
A separate tender would also be floated to construct a building close to Santa Monica jetty that will have facilities for tourists visiting the jetty, said GTDC chairman Nilesh Cabral.
“We are going for a fresh tendering for the multi-level car park because the finance department had objected to our plan to give the car park on long lease along with jetty property for development,” he said.
The GTDC board also decided to lease out a portion of the Paryatan Bhavan. The FRRO office will be set up in Paryatan Bhavan.
